Baggage award: the ease of packing everything you need
You have booked tickets for you and your partner to go skiing in Canada. Besides your ski equipment, you have a lot of other stuff to bring on your flight to Vancouver. With a baggage award, you can divide everything over 3 check-in bags and will not freeze during your stay in the mountains.

What is a baggage award?
As a Flying Blue member, you can use your Award Miles to check in extra baggage with a baggage award. This means that on top of the standard baggage allowance, you can take more bags and pay for them with Miles. Learn more about the standard baggage allowance on AIR FRANCE and KLM flights.
You can purchase a baggage award when you’ve booked a flight that is operated by AIR FRANCE, KLM, Kenya Airways or Aircalin. The Miles rates for the extra baggage item(s) vary depending on your destination and the number of extra bags you wish to bring. Check out the rates for extra baggage.
In addition to extra baggage, AIR FRANCE and KLM also offer Flying Blue members the option to use their Miles for oversized baggage or special baggage. Baggage weighing more than 23 kg or bags that are bigger than 158 cm (l + w + h), would be considered as oversized baggage. Special items include pets or certain sports equipment, such as surfboards, bicycles or scuba tanks. Find out more about the rates for special items and sizes on AIR FRANCE and KLM flights.
How does it work?
Before you book your baggage award, make sure to check the standard baggage allowance stated on your ticket first. If you are an Elite member, you might also be able to profit from the extra baggage allowance that comes with your membership level. In case you do wish to book a baggage award, you can rest assured because it's very easy.
